How to View Export History

1 min read

Export history helps you track all data exports to Power BI, including their status, duration, and details per table.

Open Export History (All Exports) #

Go to History in the left sidebar and open the Export history tab.

Here you can see:

  • All export attempts
  • Status (Success / Failed)
  • Number of tables included
  • Total rows exported
  • Duration
  • Start and end time

You can also:

  • Use search to find specific data sources or tables
  • Filter by:
    • Status
    • Ownership
    • Date

View Details for a Specific Export #

Click on an export row to expand it.

You’ll see:

  • Each table included in the export
  • Individual table status
  • Rows count and duration per table

How Export Status Works #

  • If all tables are exported successfully → the export is marked as Success
  • If at least one table fails → the export is marked as Failed

This helps quickly identify issues without checking each table manually.

Understanding Duration #

The total export duration may not equal the sum of individual table durations.

This is because:

  • Tables can be exported in parallel
  • There may be pauses or retries during export
  • Power BI controls part of the execution flow

Notes on Accuracy #

Export history provides a general overview of export activity.

However:

  • Power BI features like data preview can affect how exports appear in history
  • Some intermediate steps may not be fully reflected

Use this page as a reference point rather than an exact performance measurement.

💡 Tips #

  • Check failed exports to identify problematic tables
  • Use filters to analyze exports over time
  • Compare row counts to validate data completeness
